The Conversion of Lydia

In Acts 16 we are told of a woman named Lydia. She was mentioned in only three verses (14, 15 & 40) yet much information is given about her in those verses. She was a religious woman from Thyatira: a seller of purple who was hospitable to Paul and his companions. Her heart was opened by the gospel which was preached by Paul and she heeded the things which he spoke. We can contrast this reaction with Pharaoh who hardened his heart. Lydia heard, believed and was baptized along with her household. She was willing to use her influence persuade others.
