There Is One Body: The Church

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all (Eph 4:4-6). Paul, in reference to the church said, “there is ONE body,” not many bodies or churches as we see in the world today! Most are lead to believe that all churches are true and acceptable before God, as long as they, “believe in, and preach Jesus.” We must believe in and preach Jesus, but it can’t be possible for all churches having different names, being established at different times in history, having different heads or founders and teaching doctrines that differ one from another, to be true and right. These things are in direct opposition to what the scriptures teach.

Paul writing to, “the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse” said, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence” (Col. 1:18). “...And fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church” (Col 1:24b). Christ is the head of the church – he directs the body. Just as we possess one physical body, and it receives direction from one head - our physical head, such is the case with the Lords church. Also consider Ephesians 1:22-23; “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all and all.” Jesus, while on earth, promised to build his church (Matt. 16:18b “...And upon this rock I will build my church...”). Who is the builder/ founder of the church of which you are a member? Jesus purchased his church with his own blood (Acts 20:28b “...feed the church of God, which
he hath purchased with his own blood.”). Who purchased the church of which you are a member? Acts 2:47 records for us the church in existence for the first time, and people being added to it. Acts 2:47b reads, “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (KJV). Have you done the things necessary to be added to the one church?
